The exchange experience is different for every student. Kosma came to our program from Poalnd and has found a way to immerse himself in a unique and particular interest: crime and investigation!

Kosma was selected to attend the Rio Rancho Citizen Police Academy, where he learned all about the department and its processes. He was chosen to represent his school in a state competition for SkillsUSA in the Varsity Team, Crime Scene Investigation from my Criminal Justice Club. He also completed a Crime Scene Specialist program with Albuquerque Police and participated in the SIT-ALONG program with the local dispatching center. He is also creating an evergrowing collection of police patches, having between 120 and 150.

Aside from this, Kosma is active in his community in other ways. He participated in the UNM Health Sciences program, placed 2nd in the School-Wide poetry out loud competition, and will move to the second round of the UNM-PNM math contest. He has explored New Mexico and visited the state capitol three times already!

One of the beautiful parts of the exchange program is that it allows students and host families to explore their unique interests and learn in a new environment. Kosma’s experience so far is a beautiful representation of this!
