“Sebastian left today, and our house feels a little quieter today.
After 10 years and 7 exchange students, we’ve realized this experience is about so much more than hosting. It’s about building bridges between people, cultures, and families. These students arrive as strangers, nervous and excited for an adventure. Then suddenly, they’re laughing in your kitchen as you prepare dinner together, celebrating holidays with your family, becoming older brothers to your son, and creating memories that stay forever. One of the biggest reasons we continue doing this program is that we want these students to experience what real American life looks like. Not the Hollywood version. Not the stereotypes.
We want them to see kindness, traditions, family dinners, dogs running around the house, Christmas mornings, game nights, and people who genuinely care for one another. This program reminds us that despite different languages, countries, and customs, people connect through love, laughter, and shared experiences.
We are so thankful for every student who has trusted us with a piece of their journey. And Sebastian, thank you for becoming part of ours.”
