“The nonprofit I visited was a small church called Cowboy Church. From the moment I entered the church, I felt a sense of warmth from the priest speaking and the people around me, who were listening intently. My host mom and I were immediately noticed, and a man welcomed us by finding us a comfortable place to sit. We spoke with the priest, who he told us that their main mission was to spread the name of Christ and love for Him. He also said, “We want people to know that they are loved.
What I liked most was the closeness between the people in that community, how they are there for each other. I learned many new things about a completely different community for me.I learned how different people have improved their lives by becoming part of the church.I also came to understand the importance of helping others, even with something as basic as a smile. In my country, we have churches that help people in need, like this church does here, but the difference perhaps between non-profit organizations here and in Kosovo is that in Kosovo, they are not very widespread, even abroad, and I believe that they do not do such a large and widespread work as here. I strongly believe that my country would benefit from a similar organization, because there are many people there who need a place to rely on like this church, and also in Kosovo, there are many people who need basic things that such an organization would help a lot.
I would really like to do volunteer work in places like this and help others. I feel better when I understand that my work makes people happier. By working in these places, you do not benefit from material things, but you gain pleasure, knowledge, and new experiences that will help you in the future. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a good life; everyone needs something. When you realize that you can be a factor in helping to improve people’s problems, it makes you feel better and happier.
We are all people, regardless of our differences, so we should help each other in every way.”
